The CTU works closely with the Cancer Research UK Beatson Laboratories. In particular via the translational research programmes of the University of Glasgow's Centre for Oncology and Applied Pharmacology.

The well equipped laboratories house more than twenty research groups working on a range of topics. These include cancer molecular genetics, the functions of oncogenes and tumour suppressor genes, the behaviour of cancerous cells, the molecular mechanisms of drug resistance, novel approaches to drug delivery, radiation and genetic therapy.
